Much as the fictional company in my current novel “High Ground” was working to
secure Defense Department approval for a new proof-of-concept weapons system, there are now new hypersonic, unmanned and small-satellite launch projects of proposed ground-breaking new systems in that same pipeline, using government funds to prove their own new concepts.
Aviation Week today reported plans are expanding to demonstrate “a ground-launched system enabling hypersonic boost-glide weapons to penetrate modern enemy air defenses and rapidly and precisely engage critical time-sensitive targets.”
